False Advertising

I have said it before and I'll say it again (probably a thousand more times) - don't believe the marketing! Look at what Diane Sawyer has to say about Cheerios:

Cheerios has been claiming for years that they can lower your cholesterol and make your heart healthy - finally someone is challenging that claim. Eating Cheerios isn't healthy!!! Let me repeat that - Eating Cheerios isn't healthy!!! Cheerios register 74 on the glycemic index and donuts register 76. That number is the value obtained by monitoring a person's blood sugar after eating the food. Broccoli is a 10 and apples are 34. The lower the number the better. So we can see that Cheerios aren't what the advertisers claim and neither is Activa, Yoplait, Dannon, Grape Nuts, Special K, etc. Read the labels. We have to eat food that has one ingredient, i.e. oats (not Quaker instant oats), apples, carrots, plain yogurt (no fruit already added) - add your own fruit, beans, nuts, etc. You get the idea.

Now that I have that off my chest let's talk about walking. We've been cooped up all winter long and we finally have some beautiful walking weather. Get off you treadmill and get outside. Here's an idea for interval walking:

Jogging /walking intervals

Warm up for 5 minutes.

Start out with a brisk 3 minute walk.

Jog or speed walk for 1 minute.

Walk briskly for 3 minutes.

Jog or speed walk for 1 minute.

Continue the same routine until you have completed a total time of 30 minutes.

Cool down and stretch.

After 3 or 4 weeks change the routine to walking for 2 minutes and jogging for 2 minutes. Keep your body guessing!

Now go take a hike and Eat Intentionally!

Well, do you really have the right to tell me to go take a hike?!?!?!?! David has been chugging 2-4 lg energy vitamin waters everyday. I told him to chill out. So he did his own research and was so amazed at what he was drinking. LOL.

I have every intention of getting moving, but I need just one more week to recover. I had to go-go way to much the first week of Thomas's life. Now I am paying for it:(

River walk baby! I get to do it this year after all!!!!
