Healthy Snacks

Hi Fit Friends!

Here's a few ideas for some healthy snacks to nourish our bodies. Hope you find some you can enjoy!

Hummus with Pita and Peas

3 tablespoons hummus; 1/2 whole-grain pita, cut into pieces; and 1/2 cup pea pods

Apple and Peanut Butter

1 medium apple, sliced, with 1 tablespoon peanut butter
Better yet - have you tried Sunflower Butter (made from sunflower seeds) or almond butter - YUM!

Spiced Maple Yogurt
Spiced maple yogurt: 6 ounces plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, and a dash of cinnamon

Green Tea with Cookie

Unsweetened green tea with 1 oatmeal dark-chocolate cookie, such as TLC by Kashi

Granola Bar
1 trail-mix granola bar - Try Kashi brand - they are delicious and have great fiber!

Tomato Juice and Cheese
8-ounce tomato juice with 1 piece of string cheese

Chips and Dip

2 tablespoons low-fat spicy bean dip and 18 baked tortilla chips - better yet - make your own! HyVee has a great "roasted red jalapeno refried black beans". They are in a can in the health food section. Grab some corn or flour tortillas, season, cut into triangles and bake your own chips!

Oranges with Walnuts
4-ounce mandarin-orange cup topped with 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Red Grapes and Almonds 12 almonds and a small bunch of grapes.
