To Do List For March

Hi Fit Friends,

I thought I would pass along some ideas for making the most of March. Here goes:

Exercise:

1. It's your last chance to go to the Ice Terrace at Crown Center. They are open until Mar. 13th.

2. Mar. 5th Walk/Run Drumm run 5k! Help the kids at Drumm Farm, get a t-shirt, and enjoy the weather! Sign up here

3. Promise yourself that you will walk 15 minutes a day, 3 times a week.

Eat:

1. Veggies in season: Spring Onions - eat spring onions raw to vary a plain salad. They have a mild taste compared to their larger cousins.

2. Mar. 22 is World Water Day. Be grateful that we have clean drinking water and enjoy some!

3. Promise yourself that you will stop before you snack and see if you are emotionally hungry or physically hungry.

Educate:

1. We've all heard: if March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb. But have you heard: As it rains in March, so it rains in June? Or, A dry March and a wet May fills barns with corn and hay?

2. Here's a recipe: SNOW PEAS WITH CELERY AND SCALLIONS

1/2 lb. snow pea pods
3 stalks celery, chopped
4 scallions, chopped
3 tbsp. oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar

SAUCE:
1 tsp. cornstarch or arrowroot; dissolved in 1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. soy sauce

Wash snow pea pods and remove strings, if they bother you. I consider them to be FIBER. Chop celery and scallions. Make the Sauce. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet or wok over a high flame. Add snow peas, celery, scallions, salt and pepper. Stir fry at a sizzle for 3 minutes. Add Sauce and stir fry 1 minute for sauce to simmer and thicken. Serve immediately. Serves 6.

You could add tofu, meat, or seafood, if you want.

3. Finally, Mar. 2 is National Reading Day. Grab a book and turn off the tube. Want some ideas? Here's some of my favorite fitness and non-fitness reads:

What the Bible Says About Healthy Living (changed my life!)
Gone With the Wind (yes, it's a book)
Battlefield of the Mind
How Yoga Works (don't let the title fool you! It's a tale, not a how to and it's beautiful!)
and I'm currently reading, Life Without Limits

Eat Intentionally and enjoy March,

Cindy
